We’re back with Episode 56 of the Real World Paleo Podcast. Christine chats with holistic physician and author Akil Palanisamy, MD, about his recently published book The Paleovedic Diet. Dr. Akil found that the “Paleo nutrition template” worked well to heal his poor health and then he decided to learn about functional medicine and Ayurvedic medicine, a 3,000 year-old system in India that is based on three main body types (doshas) with a unique set of characteristics. Dr. Akil describes how individuals tend to have a dominant dosha and how you can learn about that type’s characteristics to correct imbalances in your diet and health. You can use the questionnaire in his book to determine your dominant dosha and customize the Paleo diet accordingly.
